Soccer

Hailey had an early game this morning. Pictures at 7am and game at 8. We had to leave the house at 6:30...too early for a Saturday. But, she was ready to play!!! She played left mid-field in the first half and did a great job getting the ball up to the forwards. Her team scored their first goal of the season in the first half, it was SOOOO exciting to watch!Second half she played full-back...I was a little nervous because she's never played there before, but she was all over the ball. The other team didn't score in the second half! Hailey and the other girls did a great job keeping the ball away from the goal, when the ball did make it past them the goalie stopped it! Hailey looked so much more confident this week than she has in the past. Last Saturday in her game I didn't feel that she was progressing the way she should. I was seeing other girls that had really gained confidence and I felt that she hadn't. So last Sunday Jared and I sat down with her and she came up with a few goals to work on throughout the week. She set a goal to practice each day. Each day we went to the park and spent between 30-45 minutes and worked on being aggressive, booming the ball, and controlling the ball. I have had so much fun doing this with her. It has strengthened our relationship and has helped her gain confidence. It was so exciting to see her hardwork payoff today in her game!!! They ended up losing 2-3. BUT, we scored 2 GOALS!!!Court's Game was exciting too! We thought he might not have a game because none of the other team was there until about 2 minutes before the game started. They still didn't have enough players so we had to lend a few. Court scored his FIRST GOAL!!!! Of course I didn't get any pictures of that, but that was okay because here's pictures of his SECOND GOAL!!!! It's fun to see the progression of the goal in these three pictures. GO # 8!!!!

You can barely see the ball in the goal, it's kinda behind Court's leg. So fun to watch!!!

So, since the other team didn't have enough players, a few from our team played, and Hailey got to play too! She played really reserved, the coach had her play mid-field and she just kept passing it up to her teammates.
I love this picture...SIBLING RIVALRY!!!! Court and Hailey pretty much stayed away from each other during the game, but twice they got too close to each other and they tripped each other up. They both fell down both times. Pretty funny.

I missed Carter's game...again. I haven't seen him play yet this season! Next week the games don't overlap.
Today Carter scored the first goal of the game!!! He had a couple other shots on goal too. He ran a couple kids down and stopped them from scoring. (this is all from what Jared told me) I can't wait to watch him play next week!!!
I never thought I would love soccer so much, but when you see your kids excell at something it is so rewarding to watch!!!

This is one of those times you know you'll remember for the rest of your life... sounds weird, but this post really stuck in my brain. The part about sitting down with Hailey and talking to her about making goals... I can't wait to have that conversation with my Haylie. I was never buddy buddy with my mom, growing up, and always envied other girls who were... Reading your blog gives me hope that I can have that relationship with my daughter. Thanks Jess. :)

Your kids are getting so big! Hailey's party looked like a lot of fun- what a fun day for her! Sounds like we're both busy in soccer season right now. What a great idea with setting goals with Hailey- we'll have to try that!
