Family has always been important to me. From a young age I can remember wanting to be a wife and mother. Nothing else. When I graduated from HS I just wanted to get married. Education was never really a priority. Being married and having children was.
Marriage and parenting isn't easy, (never has been, never will) especially with all the hate and evil in the world today. But, reading the Proclamation, remembering the covenants I made and having the desire to fulfill them brings peace.
In the proclamation, paragraph 3 it states:
"In the premortal realm, spirit sons and daughters knew and worshiped God as their Eternal Father and accepted His plan by which His children could obtain a physical body and gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection and ultimately realize his or her divine destiny as an heir of eternal life. The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally."
In all the times that I've read the proclamation this part has never really stuck out to me. But for some reason today it did. Before we came to earth, we knew and worshiped Him. We accepted His plan. Now each of us has the opportunity to accept that here on earth. So we can progress toward perfection, realize our divine destiny and ultimately return to live with our Father in Heaven. He desires this for us.
He must feel the same way about sending each of us here as we do when we send our children off to their first day of school. Will they remember who they are? Will they stand up for what's right? Do they know I love them? Do they understand how important they are to me?

that is an awesome idea dedicating a week to the proc I look forward to the posts. Isn't it amazing that we can understand a tiny bit of what the Lord feels for us and his children as we parent His spirits here on earth. What a wonderful Father.
I am feeling the importance of family more than ever now that our family values are being tested at every turn! I hope our children stand strong and remember the lessons we are teaching them so that they can fight the fight!
