Ready, Set, and she's Gone....

I'm sitting here feeling sorry for myself because my friend moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Since I don't have any pictures of Teresa, you get to look at her cute daughter Lydia. We got to watch Lydia for an hour yesterday. She only liked Jared. She only stopped crying when he was holding her. Aren't those red eyes just sad?Ahh, there's a smile. Just like her Mom's. One of the first few weeks that I was in the ward I received my visiting teaching route. I had this partner with a weird last name. So I called her up to set up visiting teaching and we agreed to meet at her house. I show up and we both were wearing flip flops, khaki pants, and a white shirt, and we both had our hair in a pony tail. Weird!! That's the first time I met Teresa Komadina.
We have been visiting teaching companions ever since. She has taught me so, so much about being a visiting teacher. If it was up to Teresa we'd have twice as many sisters on our route as we did/do. We had (I still have) 4.
I've learned that as we develop friendships that we give and take different things from each friendship that we have. Each one of us has different strengths and weaknesses and sometimes we lend our strength and sometimes we borrow it. Teresa is a great example of lending strength.
I have never met a person who has as much empathy as Teresa. I know whenever I share something with her her reaction will match mine, whether its exciting, disappointing or frustrating. She is always in tune with the spirit and has been an answer to more than one of my prayers.
When Teresa has an idea in her head there is no point in trying to change her mind. If you push her, she'll push back until it's exactly what she wanted and envisioned. Since I had the opportunity to serve with her I saw this first hand.
She is a great example of what a friend should be...and I miss her already.

Sorry your friend moved. I bet she's going to miss you too. I love visiting teaching! Isn't it a great program? Some of the greatest people and dearest friends I have known I have met through visiting teaching.

PS-we are just trying to find something here in the area. I need more room for food storage and growing bodies!

Hmmmm.....I'm pretty sure that I used to have a friend kind of like this here and I'm PRETTY sure she took off and moved to Arizona or something!

I love good friends. It is hard to come by really good friends and sometimes it takes awhile to get to that 'close or best' friend stage. Change is so not fun. I had a really good friend move away recently too and I still miss her, but wish her well. I often want to just show up at her door and chat!

Each Life That Touches Ours For Good. . .

It's so hard to lose friends. I'm sorry Jess. Two of my dearest friends moved away within a month of each other. And both of them were great examples to me. I feel your sorrow.
