We decided to have the walkway tiled all the way from the front door to the kitchen. My family is hard on carpet, so it was a fabulous choice for us. Notice the cute dog in this picture. His name is Skippy. He is the best dog ever. We are watching him while our friends are on vacay. My kids will be sad when it's time for him to go home.

I don't know if you can tell in the pic but we had wainscotting put around the island. The tile ended 2 feet away from the island, not cool. Whoever thought it was a good idea to put carpet under the kitchen table must not eat at their kitchen table. The kitchen is always a work in progress. I'd like to replace the light, replace the black appliances and finish painting my stools and kitchen table/chairs.
The living room. I don't miss the hole in the ceiling or the nasty carpet.
We also had the living room tiled because there is a hall right off to the right that leads to a bathroom, the laundry room and garage and we NEEDED tile there and I did not want to put carpet there and have it have a crazy angle, so we just got a piece of the same carpet as the rest of the house as an area rug.
I'll do pictures of the stairs and upstairs next time. You can see the hall to the bathroom, laundry and garage in this picture.
