the end of the day

Sometimes I feel like the end of the day can't get here fast enough. I'm ready for 7 to come around so I can throw the kids in bed and have my "me" time. Then every once in awhile, like tonight I want to sneak into the kids room and wake one of them up and have some one-on-one time with them. Court is starting to be a reader, but he absolutely, passionately hates reading with me unless I'm reading. He really wants this transformer keychain toy that I have up in the cupboard that we bought for a b-day present and didn't use, so I told him he could have it if he would read everyday with me for 2 weeks without throwing a fit or saying anything negative about it. So tonight I told him to get his reader and he started to pout, then mid sentence he stopped and gave me a big smile and said "OK!" It was so fun to read with him. I didn't want it to end. While I was reading with Court, Hailey was reading to Carter and Ellie. I love that she can read and will read to brothers and sister.

This isn't from tonight, but I thought it applied.

Hey Jess, good to hear from you! What a beautiful little family you have, especially that little Ellie, she is to die for! Thanks for the fun peak into your blog!

What a good idea to bribe for quality reading time. I need to do that with math facts. Thanks for the idea. I know what you mean about being excited for bedtime. It is so nice to have the house quite and I love to watch the kids while they are peacefully sleeping. What a great big sister Hailey is!

I love sweet moments like this! So sad that our kids grow so fast!

Way to go Jess! I am still working on getting the desire to do that. Yeah for your kids!! Totally understand the 7 o'clock "me" time. That just seems to be when my patience well runs dry.
