Hailey's Baptism

Hailey Lynne Walker

Hailey's baptism was at 2 pm on Saturday April 26, 2008. We had to be there 30 minutes early. As soon as we got there Hailey and Jared got into their jumpsuits. The first one Hailey tried on was a LITTLE too small, so we got a bigger size. She looked so clean and pure (so does Jared, doesn't he?). I love the pictures taken before baptisms.

Then we went in the Relief Society room to wait for the baptism to start. Hailey got to pick the opening song. She chose Teach Me to Walk, one of my favorites. We shared the baptism with a boy in our ward named Isaiah. His aunt said the opening prayer. Then Nana got to give the talk on baptism. She did such a wonderful job. She reminded them that they were being baptized just like Christ was. She taught about the covenants that they were making to our Heavenly Father. She gave Hailey a bracelet and Isaiah a tie tack to remind them of their covenants. After the talk it was time for Hailey and Isaiah to be baptized. Hailey was first. Of course I got choked up. It is such a wonderful feeling to watch your child be baptized, to make covenants with our Heavenly Father. It was wonderful to watch my husband baptize our sweet girl (I'm wiping the tears from my eyes as I write this). I loved being able to wrap her up after she came out of the water. Then she waited, dripping wet, on the side of the font to watch as Isaiah was baptized.
Isaiah and Hailey
After Isaiah and Hailey change we went into the Primary room and all the primary kids did a special musical number, When I am Baptized. It was so fun to hear all those little voices sing. It always invites the spirit. Then Isaiah's aunt gave a talk on the Holy Ghost. She held up her son's red toy jeep. It was pretty beat up, missing tires and such. She said that it was a gift from his birthday and that he had already worn it out. Then she told Hailey and Isaiah that they were going to receive a gift that would never wear out, that the more they used it, the better it would work, the Holy Ghost. She did such a great job. Then Isaiah was confirmed, then Hailey. After confirmations we sang I Feel My Savior's Love, then Oma gave the closing prayer.

It went by so fast, but the spirit was strong. It was so refreshing, and a great reminder of the covenants I made 21 years ago. So, here's my view point. I'm really going to try to get Hailey to write some of the things that she experienced.

Congratulations Hailey! What a pretty girl! Great post, Jess. It looks like you've all had a great week. It's so nice to have experiences like these with our families. It's really what life is all about.

I can't believe she is 8! I still remember when Jared called to tell us she was born. She is beautiful!

We loved coming to the baptism! The spirit was so strong and I got all choked up too, for Hailey and because I realized that Bryce will be doing the same in 6 months. I loved that all the kids got to come up and sing and be a part of something so special. Thanks for letting us be a part of Hailey special day!
