"You're laughing at me!"
Darn, I would never ever intentionally laugh at one of my children, and this isn't even a laughing matter. I should have given a stern look instead, but I just couldn't keep a straight face. Yesterday we were in Subway having dinner, me and the kidders-Jared was working-and Carter open his package of apples and they went flying everywhere, everywhere. This kid, seriously he must have been 11 or 12, ok maybe 10-not sure-was standing right behind us waiting for his food and bent down and started to pick up a few of the apples-what a sweet boy. I said Thanks so much...then I was looking at Hailey and I could tell she was looking at him, and she gave the shyest "Hi" smile I've ever seen...so cute. I totally started giggling. She looked at me and said "WHAT?!" I said "what was that?" H. "he smiled at me, so I smiled back." I couldn't contain my giggles....she got soooo mad and said "You're laughing at me!!" I should have turned around and said to him "Hey wait a few years, alright? She's 8." but I had already embarrassed her enough for one evening. I was a little worried that my giggles may encourage this kind of thing, but I think it gave the opposite effect, she won't be sharing any of her cute smiles with any boys anytime soon, at least not when I'm around. I've got many, many more opportunites to embarrass her over the next 10 years....I can hardly wait!!!

Jess, glad I found your blog. Kim had told me you had one! Looks like you guys are doing good. I sure do miss you living next to us. It wasn't long enough! I sure do wish you guys would move back!
HA! Sweet Hailey. I sure miss you!
Halle tells me she thinks Troy from HSMusical is super HOT so I guess we skipped over the bashful stage!
And so it begins...
I am dreading having to deal with that when Emma gets older. That and trying to make sure she dresses modestly. I remember how i would sneak clothes to school to change into so my parents wouldn't see me. Ha! Hopefully I know all the tricks so she can't get away with that. :)
No smiles until at least 12! Good work on the embarrassing, if you need any tips for the ages, LMK. I have been honing my bowhunting skills, numchuck skills, and oh yeah, embarrassing my kids skills too.
This is a cute story! I do this kinda of stuff to Amanda's girls. Kenzie goes to High School this year, and I have been teasing her like crazy! And...thank's for posting on our blog. I hope you don't mind me checking out your family's. It is also cute and fun to see how big your kids have gotten.
ohh! i laughed so hard...thanks jess...i have a hailey jalyn...(i guess we weren't very original on that one were we!) can't wait until my hailey does the same thing...LOL
