Molly Mormon...(warning!!! Long, boring post)

In the past week and a half I've had two people tell me that I was a Molly Mormon. I'm not sure what everyone else's definition of a Molly Mormon is, but mine's not all that great. If you knew me in HS or college, you probably wouldn't think this about me. Don't get me wrong, I was a good girl, never did anything too crazy. In college, I'd make it to sacrament meeting and then head home. Now I think this is completely unacceptable behavior for anyone. Does that statement make me sound like a MM?

So, since we're on the subject of MM....I love the lessons we have in Sunday School and Relief Society and I always come away feeling uplifted and renewed. I can never ever remember what the lessons are about, so I thought I'd tell as much of it as I can remember so I can at least remember that. That made no sense.

I just have to say that we have the best teachers in SS & RS. We used to have 2 1/2 hour church, so it made SS & RS super short and I always felt like it just wasn't long enough...I could never get enough, I was never ready to have the lessons end. Now we're back to 3 hours and I still feel the same way. I didn't make it to SS, so this post is about RS. Today's lesson was #11 The Organization and Destiny of the True and Living Church. When I first read the title I wanted to go take a nap. I shouldn't admit that. Sister Morrow (wonderful teacher) substituted for our usual (also wonderful) teacher, Sister Reid. Again today I did not want the lesson to end, I couldn't get enough, the teacher was wonderfully prepared. One of the things Sister Morrow talked about was how there were two things that all the prophets of old prophesied. The first is the coming of Christ, and the second is the dispensation of the fullness of times, our day, when the gospel will go throughout all the lands. She read a quote from Sister Sheri Dew's book that I'll have to add in later because I loved it, and I can't remember the name of the book or what the quote really said. Another thing that her lesson focused on was: How do we as Latter Day Saints help build the Kingdom of God? The comments that were made were amazing, but I can't remember what they said. It was a really inspiring lesson and message. It's very interesting to think about the prophets of old and that they prophesied of things that are coming to pass in our lives. It amazes me that each one of us was prepared to come down at this time, to live and raise our families in this age. Another little story that Sis. Morrow told was that her parents Home teacher was over and they were talking about how wonderful it is that we will be getting a few more temples here in Arizona. Their Home Teacher said "are we ready?". Not as in are we prepared to make good use of the temple, but are we ready for what Satan will bring our way in an attempt to thwart the work of the Lord.
The more I think about it, the more I know that this exactly what Satan will try to do. I had to ask myself, Am I prepared? Are my kids prepared? Have I taught them enough that they will be able to recognize a bad situation? Will they be able to identify the prompting of the Holy Ghost? I feel a sudden urgency to be more prepared spiritually. Not just me, but my family. Okay, I better stop before I bare my testimony.
Thanks teachers and substitutes for preparing until 2 am the night before so we can have wonderful lessons.

I guess we all have different ideas of what a Molly Mormon is. If it means that you're trying to do what's right, and you mess up plenty and try to fix it, then I'm alright with being one. But if it's my definition...I'm totally offended.

I used to think it would be so lame to be called a Molly Mormon...not so much anymore. Now that i've gotten older and have had some kids I would feel great if someone called me that. That means hopefully i'm doing something right!
I love love love having the pop-up window for comments. Best thing I ever changed on my blog!
Okay, I laughed so hard at the comment Jared made about your South Beach diet dinner! Curt would have done the same thing! Too funny!
Call me...we need to get together again before you guys head out for the summer!

Oh Jess you make me laugh! I love how you kept saying that you loved something but couldn't remember what it was...that totally sounds like me. I never thought of the temples in that way, that makes me nervous for my family...I guess I'm gonna have to kick my heiny into gear and try harder. By the way whoever told you that you were a MM I bet they meant it in a totally complimentive way, cuz you are awesome in so every way. Maybe someday someone will call me a MM...but I'm sure not any time soon. :)

You know I used to think 3 hours was so long... but I love going to church now!!! (and I don't think it is just bc nursery exists;)) No really I have felt such an urge to focus on being ready especially with what I am teaching Bronx. Now he is old enough to really need thorough teaching and it scares me that I wont do well enough.

Hi Jess! Not sure if you remember me, but I think Jared might... My name is Cassi Rose..formerly Engbretson. I was Jared's and Daron's BB manager in HS (I can't belive I just said that. It sounds so dorky!) Anyway, I just thought I'd fill you guys in on my life since I last saw you. Long story short.. met a guy, took the discussions, got baptized, got married, got pregnant, twice. SO... we're living back in the Tri-Cities. We've got 2 kids Haylie (3 on August 1st) and Connor is 14 months. Haven't been to the temple yet, but are planning for this September (hopefully). :) Anyway, I'm glad I found your blog. I hope you remember me so I don't sound too dumb.. :) Tell Jared hi. Bye!

Hey Jessica...I am glad you blog hopped! Well, I think we both had the same idea of what a Molly Mormon was in high school and I would say that according to our definition, neither one of us were. We weren't bad, but I am sure you know what I mean. Your family is so fun. I'll have to check in on you a little more often now that I know where to find you! SherRae
